2001년 9월7일 아일랜드 더블린의 마이라의 성 니꼴라오 성당에서 거행하는 레지오 마리애 창설 80주년 기념 미사 봉헌및 전야 기도회에 즈음하여 교황님께서는 이 전례에 참석하는 레지오 단원들에게 따뜻한 인사를 보내시면서 레지오 단원들이수행하는 사도직 활동을 기도로 밀어주신다는 말씀을 내리셨습니다.
교황님께서는 1921년 더블린에서 프랭크 더프 님이 레지오를 설립하려는 영감을 실천에 옮긴 이후 세계 방방곡곡의 다양한 사회적 여건하에서 레지오 마리애 단원들이 이룩한 모든 업적에 대해서 단원들과 더불어 감사를 드리고 계십니다.
올 해 창설 기념일을 자축하는 레지오 단원들을 향해 교황님께서는 성령께서 이끄시는 데 따라 열성과 신념을 새롭게 하여 이 시대를 함께 살아가는 모든 사람들에게 복음의 빛을 전하겠다는 각오로 도전하라고 격려하십니다.
성하께서는 구세주의 어머니이신 성모님께 모든 레지오 단원들을 보호해 주시도록 청하시면서 올 해 창설기념행사에 참가하는 단원들 모두에게 기꺼이 사도적 강복을 내리십니다.

APOSTOLIC BLESSING OF THE HOLY FATHER ON THE 80th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE LEGION OF MARY
On the occasion of the Mass and Vigil of Prayer taking place on the 7th September 2001 in the church of Saint Nicholas of Myra, Dublin, to mark the Eightieth Anniversary of the foundation of the Legion of Mary, the Holy Father sends warm greetings to all present and assures you of his prayerful support in your postolate.
He joins the Legionaries in giving thanks for all that has been achieved in different parts of the world and in various social situations ever since Frank Duff had the inspiration of founding the association in Dublin in 1921.
As you celebrate this anniversary, His Holiness encourages you to take up the challenge of bringing the light of the Gospel to the men and women of our time with renewed enthusiasm and confidence in the Holy Spirits guidance.
Entrusting all Legionaries throughout the world to the protection of Mary,] Mother of the Redeemer, His Holiness gladly imparts his Apostolic blessing to all taking part in the anniversary celebrations.
